German Apple Cake

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. salad oil
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 c. thinly sliced apples
  • 1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Mix together eggs, salad oil, sugar and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together, then add to creamed mixture. Add apples. Batter will be stiff. Pour into greased cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 min.- punch holes in cake and loosen from sides with a knife.

topping:
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 cube butter or margarine
Mix and heat on stove until it comes to a boil. Stir constantly- pour over warm cake.
